As a registered Practitioner I can recommend and arrange functional testing, as and when necessary, for example:
*Adrenal stress profile ~ A simple and non-invasive test which measures the levels of key stress hormones cortisol and Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) throughout the day and evening to assess the adrenal rhythm and highlight any imbalances, which may trigger and exacerbate a dysfunctional interaction between the microbiome, gut and brain. Hormone imbalances can lead to a myriad of challenges which may include anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, fertility issues, headaches, insomnia, menstrual difficulties, migraines and recurrent infections,
*Comprehensive stool analysis ~ Provides an insight into overall gastrointestinal health by assessing a combination of novel stool biomarkers;
Gut Metabolic, e.g. pH
Gut Microbiology, e.g. beneficial bacteria, candida overgrowth, presence of parasites
*Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH) ~ simple and easy to use and to help identify the root causes of hormone imbalances in men and women. It can provide insights into conditions such as the menopause, PCOS, weight gain, fatigue, low libido, premenstrual syndrome, mood swings, sleep issues, mood disorders and prostate issues in men.
*Food intolerance ~ Food intolerance is not the same as a food allergy. In a true food allergy, a person’s immune system produces immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in response to foods, moulds, inhalants. These IgE antibodies initiate a cascade of events that can affect the skin; causing hives, the respiratory tract; causing wheezing, and/or the GI tract ; causing vomiting. In severe anaphylactic cases, an allergic reaction can be life threatening.
If you suspect that you may have an IgE allergy, then you should consult your GP to be tested for this.
A food intolerance is when your immune system produces tailor-made antibodies immunoglobulin G (IgG) in response to certain food components. Digested foods are usually broken down into smaller fragments for easy absorption in the body, but sometimes larger fragments can pass through into the blood stream, causing the body to react to them as invaders, attacking them using IgG antibodies.
Whilst not life threatening, this can cause a range of symptoms from bloating, discomfort after eating, lethargy, headaches, mood swings, symptoms of depression and many more.
If you suspect certain foods are causing you symptoms, a simple home to lab finger prick test is all that is needed to test and analyse the sample to identify an individual’s food intolerance.
I am registered with and work alongside reputable laboratories, including, Genova Diagnostics, Medichecks, Regenerus Labs and Yorktest), and I offer a 20 minute telephone consultation to discuss your results.
*The cost of functional tests does not include my consultation fee.
*Each laboratory often provide practitioners with a discount on the cost of a test to help cover the time needed prior to consultations to analyse/interpret results.
*Existing clients receive a discount on the cost of a functional test, if a practitioner discount is available.
*If you are not yet a client, but wish to purchase a test, I can order the test at retail price and offer you a 10% discount on a 60 minute follow-up consultation via Skype, where we can discuss your results and evaluate your current health status. I will then provide you with a Naturopathic Nutrition plan.
